JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receptionist:
- Maintains and respects the confidentiality of students and school personnel information.
- Understands, accepts, and abides by the school’s philosophy and mission statement.
- Answers phone calls in a pleasant, informed manner for the purpose of providing information and creating a good image of the school.
- Greets all incoming students, families, and guests respectfully and professionally.
- Assists in all aspects of maintaining a professional front office, including but not limited to, fielding and directing incoming phone calls to the appropriate staff member in a timely, professional manner, filing, copying, and faxing of sensitive information.
- Develops a positive, welcoming, and caring climate in the Front Office.
- Consistently exhibits high standards of professional conduct.
- Arrives punctually, be prepared for each school day, and maintains regular attendance.
- Assists students and others with routine problems and will refer non-routine items to the Site Director.
- Works with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with others, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Coordinates pickup, delivery, and distribution of mail and packages.
- Receives, counts, opens, unpacks, dates, stamps, records, sorts, and distributes incoming mail, documents, books, materials, and supplies following established procedures.
- Sorts and stamps out-going correspondence, addresses envelopes and packages, and prepares printed matter and other material for mailing.
- Distributes any student/staff items left at the front desk.
- Receives and refers visitors, takes telephone calls and messages, and provides routine information upon request (per state law- we are not allowed to take messages for teachers or students. The parent must email the teacher).
- Receive, maintain, and sort all incoming paperwork (intent to return forms, uniform forms, etc.).
- Plan and set up rooms for various meetings, training, board meetings, and/or Professional Development Days
- Assist in planning/scheduling/ preparing for special visitors to the campus
- Attend all meetings, professional development days, trainings, and/or special events as assigned.
- (from Health Assistant) Assume responsibility for maintaining a clean, neat and orderly environment.
- Effectively perform all other duties as assigned/asked by administration.
- Back up for the attendance clerk.

- Health Assistant
- Provides for children’s personal needs such as attending to those who are sick or hurt; administering medications as prescribed by a physician in accordance with training and authorization.
- Provides appropriate emergency care of illness or injury to students and staff in accordance with school district policy and procedure, i.e. the use of ice packs, temperature taking, band-aid, and Kool fever gel for the lowering fevers.
- Administers oral, inhaled, and topical medications to students after receiving a prescriber’s written order and parent’s permission. Injected medications, such as an EpiPen, may be given only in an emergency.
- Log the results in the Log Book, diabetic students’ blood glucose, Carbs, and Insulin Doses.
- Keep accurate records of medications brought to the front office and records each administration of medication in Infinite Campus.
- Maintains confidentiality of information learned regarding students and their families.
- Communicate with parents and students as needed.
- Notify campus principal of serious incidents, significant health problems, referrals, and possible child abuse.
- Exhibits knowledge of job limitations and accepts supervision.
- Performs all other health-related or work delegated tasks that are required to accomplish the objectives of the total school health program.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as needed when not assisting students/teachers with health needs.
- Completes “Health Office Visit” in Infinite Campus to document each student seen in the front office, including their chief complaint, the time arrived and time left the front office.
- Follows district policy regarding the cleaning of cots and equipment.
- Follows district policy regarding infection-control measures.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and notify campus administration of needed supplies.
- Maintain positive rapport and demeanor with all staff, students and families.
HEALTH POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience, Training
- High school graduate or equivalent is required
- Current CPR certification is required
- Red Cross First Aid required/or prior healthcare experience/training such as EMT or another medical background
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to react quickly, calmly, and decisively in a crisis
- Basic computer experience is required
- Must obtain or be able to obtain a health card through the Southern Nevada Health District
- Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned throughout the school building
- Preferred experience in health related field (but not required)
Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures that involve the operation of standard office equipment such as a personal computer, copier, fax, and associated equipment that can be learned on the job within several months.
- Highly organized and ability to maintain accurate records.
