Academic Program Coordinator 

 

Position Overview:

 

The Academic Coordinator of Elementary Programs is a key position within our educational organization, responsible for assisting the Chief Academic Officer and Director of Curriculum & Instruction in all academic matters related to PreK-5th grade. This role requires a deep understanding of elementary education and curriculum development, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. The Academic Coordinator of Elementary Programs will work closely with principals, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of educational programs, promote academic excellence, and support student achievement.

 

Reports to: Director of Curriculum & instruction

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Curriculum Development and Implementation:

- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and the academic team to develop and revise curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, and assessment strategies for PreK-5th grade programs.

- Provide guidance and support to teachers in aligning curriculum with state standards, district goals, and best practices.

- Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of instructional resources and materials to ensure their effectiveness and relevance.

 

  1. Professional Development:

- Identify professional development needs of elementary teachers and administrators, and coordinate relevant training sessions, workshops, and seminars.

- Collaborate with school principals to develop and implement professional development plans that enhance instructional practices and pedagogical strategies.

- Stay abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in elementary education and share relevant information with district staff.

 

  1. Data Analysis and Assessment:

- Collect, analyze, and interpret student performance data to assess instructional effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

- Collaborate with principals and teachers to develop and implement data-driven action plans to address student achievement gaps.

- Assist in the design and administration of district-wide assessments and ensure alignment with curriculum and standards.

 

  1. Instructional Support and Coaching:

- Provide instructional support and coaching to teachers, including modeling effective instructional strategies, providing feedback, and facilitating collaborative planning sessions.

- Support the implementation of instructional technology and digital resources in classrooms.

- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovative and research-based instructional practices.

 

  1. Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Collaborate with principals, district administrators, and other stakeholders to foster a collaborative and cohesive educational environment.

- Attend and contribute to district-level meetings, committees, and task forces focused on curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

- Act as a liaison between the district and external educational organizations, attending conferences and workshops to enhance professional knowledge.

 

Qualifications:

 

- A minimum of a master's degree in education or a related field.

- Several years of successful teaching experience in elementary education.

- Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices for PreK-5th grade.

- Strong understanding of state standards, educational policies, and best practices in elementary education.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.

- Experience in providing professional development and coaching to teachers.

- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

- Proficiency in educational technology and its integration into instructional practices.

- Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements in elementary education.
