Position Overview: Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) seeks an experienced Mathematics educator to join our team as a Mathematics Instructional Support Consultant. This position is designed to support our School Math department in implementing effective teaching strategies, improving instructional practices, and enhancing student learning outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with current Math teachers, guiding various instructional approaches and standardized test preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mental Math Support: Integrate mental math techniques and applications into daily lessons to help students build strong mental calculation skills.
- Methodology Guidance: Provide instructional advice, particularly on using textbook methods rather than more practical, alternative approaches to teaching specific topics.
- General Instructional Coaching: Provide feedback and general support on teaching practices to help improve classroom delivery and instructional effectiveness.
- Advanced Student Support: Develop strategies to support advanced learners, ensuring that these students are continually challenged and engaged.
- SBAC Preparation: Provide best practices for preparing students for SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) testing, including strategies for reviewing and reinforcing key skills.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Teaching or Mathematics or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Prior teaching experience in Elementary School Mathematics, with demonstrated success in student outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Mental Math techniques and differentiated instruction.
- Experience preparing students for standardized assessments such as SBAC.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
